JUST A THOUGHT…

Episode One

So what can be deduced about teenage rebellion?
During this period that a child is going through their hormonal changes, why is it that they believe they know what is best? There is still that underlying factor that they should respect their parents. As it says in Exodus 20:12, “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live long, full life in the land the L-RD your G-D is giving you.” (NLT).
Yes, when we’re young we think that living long is a drag and that we should live in the moment. There are so many loop-holes to find when you’re a teenager, the ‘unfair, stupid, idiotic flaws of the system’ which the alternative such as hanging out with friends, doing drugs, vandalism, sex, and other things seem to be the ‘right’ things to be doing.

Our nation(s) is not just starting to become numb to the fact, to the ways of life, but it has been happening for the past couple of generations. Many parents in today’s society believe that you should just let your kid go… There is zero discipline, no moral teachings, no lessons to help the child to differentiate the difference between right and wrong. Today, boy and girls think it is a learning experience to have sex in their early teenage years, that they should learn how to do it so that they become better for their next partner. So what evidence can be shown to prove that even the parents have changed? Well, look at how they are raising their children today? Look at the company heads of the world, the doctors and psychologists that promote ‘safe-sex’. They continue to promote, without anything that could be used to discourage such an action. Whatever happened to the sanctity of marriage? Whatever happened to getting married before having sex? Whatever happened to the purity of the soul?

The chapter ‘Designer sex’ is a very informative chapter in the book “Rumors Of Another World” by Phillip Yancey. I
will not write down quotes from the book, the chapter, but all I can say is that it completely describes about our society today. Sex sells, yes, because it is a temptation that everyone wants. Sex gives a feeling of satisfaction that is indescribable, for it is the bonding of the flesh. Unfortunately, with the way things are going, the bonding of one man and one woman is not relevant anymore… Now we have gays and lesbians, which describe it now as the bonding of one man and one woman, two men, two women, or possibly a group of women, men, a group of men and women. I do not believe that there is any true meaning in those occasions. Sex is a reward from G-D, a gift to us for when we marry a member of the opposite sex. Anyways, let’s move back to the whole topic of teenage rebellion.
Now, in the Ten Commandments, when G-D said to us to honor our mother and father, he didn’t just leave it at that. He also said that when we honor our mother and our father, we will not only be rewarded with long life, but a full life. Saying a ‘full life’ could mean many things such as a meaningful life, a life with luxury, a proper life, a life that just seems to go right all the time, and so on. There are many things that can be said to what ‘full life’ could mean. I believe that it is a possibility that it means all of those things, and so much more.

Throughout the bible, there are more verses that talk about children obeying their parents. Let’s take a look at Ephesians 6:1-4, “Children, obey your parents in the L-RD, for this is right. Honor your father and your mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth. And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger; but bring them up in the discipline and instructions of the L-RD.” Wow… It’s not much to read, yet it says so much.

It’s so important to obey (respect) your parents. Yes, not everyone’s situation is the same, but in the end, the L-RD will reward those who obey HIS commandments. Why be so proud, and not listen? Are you that great that you know best? Do you know better than what G-D has commanded? There is a reason for everything, but first thing is first… Obey the laws of G-D.

When we spend time in reflection, it is truly scary to see so many aspects of the way our world, and even ourselves have been doing wrong. But here’s the next step… Take action. What’s the point of sitting down all day and reflecting and say you’re going to do something, when all you’re really doing to spending more time reflecting. Stand up, take action, but keep the L-RD’s words close to heart.

The goal of life should be to serve the One and Only G-D. Serve Him in every aspect of your life. In your time of work, play, in your marriage, your family, to your children, your parents, your siblings, your in-laws, for our L-RD Jesus should be the first in all things. Be thankful to all he has done for us… Refrain from sinning, for hasn’t Jesus died on the cross for us already? You have come into the Christian life… This means you are saved in His salvation, and all your sins of the past are forgiven; it doesn’t mean that He is now your escape from sin… That you are allowed to sin, and then ask for forgiveness time and time again. No, this means you have made mistakes; you are now turning from your old ways, and following the ways of G-D.

There is so much more I want to explore. So much more I am searching, and these little “JUST A THOUGHT…” journals are for me to try and figure out some sort of an answer to the complications that are occurring in the ways of the world, which in part, starts from our very homes.
